I love the book, Memoirs of a Goldfish, by Devin Scillian. It is a sweet picture-book depicting the life of Goldfish. Goldfish happily swim around their bowls; however, new things and fish are added every day which crowd his bowl. Goldfish has a variety of feelings, and is surprised that while he may sometimes dread and hate some things, he would miss them if they were not with him or part of his life.
After hearing the story, we talked about things we would miss if they weren’t with us as well as things we take for granted. I have to admit, brothers and sisters topped the list. The kids loved sharing their stories of how they came to their realizations.
This is a perfect lesson to do if you are short on time because it takes 30 minutes OR less!
