I nominated my first student for the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship just a few years ago. Although she didn’t win the grand prize, she did win a store gift certificate, which did help her with a new college wardrobe.
Kohl’s is just one opportunity available to younger students. There are others out there, and a quick internet search will help you find others. Also internet sights like Fastweb, are specifically sites to help students locate scholarships that meet their background and interests. Even for Middle School students, now is a good time to start planning ahead. Most scholarships are offered annually, so start a list of scholarships, the amount offered, the deadlines, and the criteria. Pre-planning can really pay off.
